Hi Families and Students!
I hope you having a nice break and everyone is doing well. I just wanted to touch base about how things will look next week when we move from the Emergency Learning Plans to New Essential Learning for the remainder of the school year. Students – you have done an amazing job working through assignments these past few weeks and I am so proud of you. These are crazy, unprecedented times – it is okay to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, sad, confused…I feel those things sometimes too and I am here to help you so please reach out. Weekly lessons/assignments On Sundays, I will email families the weekly learning plan which will include learning targets for each subject. I will also send the plan through a Seesaw announcement directly to students so they will have their own access. There will be a Monday-Friday schedule of activities. Please continue to find the best schedule that works for your family. The activities will have links to videos or resources to teach the new content, as well as assignments for students to practice the new learning and some items to turn in throughout the week. I will most likely upload 1-2 days of lessons at a time on Seesaw so as not to overwhelm the students on Seesaw with activities, but if your student likes to work ahead, email me and I can get you the lessons as you need them. The District has indicated that for fourth grade, students should spend 90 minutes of time each day on school – at least 30 minutes a day in each of the main subject areas Reading, Writing and Math. The majority of the lessons will be found in Seesaw, but I may refer students to other programs they have familiarity with – Zearn, Actively Learn, BrainPop, Office 365 (word and class notebook), etc. Extension activities The specialists and Mrs. Bryant will also be posting lessons and fun activities through Seesaw. In the weekly plan there will be also be extension and enrichment activities that go deeper into content, add in science and social studies and hopefully provide some entertainment. Don’t feel like you have to do every enrichment activity. The important thing is that you are all taking care of your health, and doing some Reading, Writing and Math every day. I will continue read-alouds, and will post a few chapters on Wednesdays of each week. Zoom meetings I’d like to continue our weekly Zoom meetings on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. These meetings won’t be for new learning, but for us all to connect and see one another. I will continue to send the invitation link and our password will always be snow. Fun stuff We won’t have a way to earn class money, house points or class coins, but I want to hear your ideas for how we can have classroom celebrations for the great work you are doing. So, use the Seesaw activity- Classroom Celebration Ideas to post your ideas. I’m thinking of a Zoom popcorn, movie party. What do you think? How would you celebrate a classroom distance learning party? How would you celebrate a classroom distance learning party?Draw, type or decorate your idea and share! Enjoy this beautiful sunshine and I will talk to you next week - Ms. Warner Hi 4th grade families -
I hope you are all staying healthy and hanging in there! This is the final week of Emergency Educational Learning Resources (EELRs) as we transition to Essential New Learning (ENLs) after spring break. I am very excited to begin teaching new concepts and will be working hard to find ways to engage and accommodate all students. I will be mailing the math module workbooks for the remainder of the year to students tomorrow. To practice and prepare for remote teaching and at home learning, I would like students to complete the “Must Do” activities by Friday, April 10. I want to make sure that students are able to access and have a good comfort level of the programs where they will receive instruction, obtain assignments and turn in assignments. Supplemental activities are located in the “Can Do” and “Extension” sections. In addition to the Week 3 resources, I have also attached a parent letter about Seesaw features and a calendar for Earth Day. Our next Zoom session is scheduled for Thursday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. Look for an email with the link, password, Zoom norms, and instructions for a game we will play. Please email me anytime with feedback, questions, and/or concerns. Thanks for your support at home! Ms. Warner P.S. Students: Thank you for completing the Friday fraction review question last week! The answer was: 2 full containers and 2/8 of a third container. Dear 4th grade Parents and Students,
I hope you are all doing well, as well as staying safe and healthy. I really miss everyone and would much prefer to be in the classroom with my wonderful class. In the meantime, you will find Emergency Education Learning Resources (EELRs) attached. This weekly plan includes options and resources to help support your student in the areas of academic, social-emotional and physical health. My hope is to keep your student engaged, maintain learning, and reduce regression during the school closure. I will attach a similar lesson plan each week and am available, through email, to answer any questions and/or concerns about this or any home learning you are doing. Please note that work will not be scored or graded. Seesaw is a great resource to use for communication. Please feel free to have students upload their work weekly or just say hi – this can be a video or a picture. Seesaw can be accessed through Clever. Students can also share their writing if they type it in in their Office 365 word accounts. I will be uploading videos (reading aloud and just saying hi - weekly). Please don’t judge my camera presence – I was definitely not made to be a news reporter, youtube star or actress – I have such admiration for the students’ videos now! Students can access and respond to these in our activities section in Seesaw. Mrs. Stempson, our fabulous librarian, also has uploaded a wonderful video on Seesaw to share with you. A reminder of my website: https://mswarnersfourthgrade.weebly.com/ We will get through this! Ms. Warner
