0 Comments Hi everyone - I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I am going to try email again from my work email - please just text me back a quick reply so I know that you received it. Thank you! Here is hoping for a week that is precipitation-free... Warm Fuzzies - a message from Student Council We are excited to hold our first Student Council fundraiser of the year. We will be selling “warm fuzzies” during all recesses on Wednesday, February 12th and Thursday, February 13th. They will be sold for 5 per $1.00 bill (no change please). On Valentine’s Day, Student Council officers will deliver the warm fuzzies to classrooms. Valentine's Day Party The 4th grade will be having a party on Friday, February 14th from 2:15 - 3:15. We are still in need of a few items if you are able to volunteer to bring something. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f4aa8a62da1f58-valentine Students can decorate a bag or box at home to bring in or bring in something they already have to store the cards they receive. Below you will find our class list to bring in Valentine cards (candy is acceptable - please just avoid all nuts). Emerson Griffin Grace Nathan Kendall Max Ellie Gavin Averie Lars Magnus Maddy Zoey Dean Kate Jackson Ethan Olivia Penny Ky'Mani Auction - Note from the PTA As you know, our PTA is putting on a fundraising auction on March 20th. Our classrooms are collecting items for gift baskets to be offered for bidding at the auction. Our classroom theme is BEST OF WASHINGTON (anything and everything made in or related to Washington). We are asking the parents to please participate by donating some items for the gift basket. Each classroom will have a bin placed outside throughout the month of February to collect donations! Items can be dropped off by parents or sent to school with your student. Our deadline to collect these items is February 28! Any questions about the auction? Contact Katherine Swanberg [email protected] Thank you for donating! Highlights of this week: Character Trait - Each month we will focus in on an important trait as a whole school. The trait for February is Optimism. Character trait winners last month: Lars and Jackson - way to go! Math: In math, we continued our work with fractions. We spent the week creating equivalent fractions using multiplication and division as well as comparing fractions. We are currently on Module 5, Unit 12. The following source is a great one! https://embarc.online/course/index.php?categoryid=6 Students are also on this unit in their Zearn online math programs, which they can log into at home for extra practice. Reading: Fort Day was a fabulous success and a great way to celebrate World Read Aloud Day! We are gearing up for our 2nd Continental Congress debate (new date and time to be Thursday, February 13 at 12:20 p.m.). We have also started a new research study - focusing on events that happened after 1776. Writing: Our Washington state informational writing topics are gathering steam. Most students have completed upwards of three chapters and have enjoyed researching their topics to gather information to strengthen their books. Social Studies:/Science: As we continue to work on Social Studies, we have also started our next Science unit- Earth's Changing Services. We will be conducting a lesson on tectonic plates and volcanic activity this week. Important Dates
