Washington State Potluck
The ENTIRE 4th grade is having a Washington State Potluck on Wednesday, November 27th from 11:45-12:25. We are asking each family to provide a side dish, snack, main dish, or dessert using local ingredients from Washington State or products that are Made in Washington. (Examples could include local fruits and veggies, soups or casseroles made with local ingredients, apple pie, Tim's Potato Chips, Costco pizza, or Top Pot Doughnuts!) Please list the name of the item you plan on bringing so that we can have a variety. Students may bring their item in the morning or items can be dropped off at 11:20 am. There are also spots for drinks, plates, napkins, utensils, etc. Please label containers/bags. Volunteers are welcomed to help with the Potluck. Thanks for your help!!! The signups can be found at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d4aafae22abf85-washington1 School-wide note about classroom parties - Students have a variety of severe food allergies. Some are allergic to dairy, some to nuts, some to wheat, etc. Because of this variety of needs, we are unable to guarantee which foods may be accessible at school or school-sponsored events. If your child has a food allergy, please remind them that there may be different foods at our party which could contain allergens. For such children, you may consider sending in a food/snack that your child will be able to enjoy. If your child does not have an identified food allergy, please consider providing food that may be enjoyed by all of your child's classmates. Thank you! Conferences This is a friendly reminder that the conference scheduler is now open through Skyward-Family Access. Elementary conferences will be held on Dec. 4th and 5th. Your fourth grader will attend the conference with you. They will present for the first half and leave the room for the second half of the conference. I am happy to accommodate two family households. If you do not see a time that works for you, please let me know and we can work something out. If you have trouble logging on to Skyward, let me know, and I can send you some available time slots. Thank you! Highlights of this week: Character Trait - Each month we will focus in on an important trait as a whole school. The trait for November is "gratitude." Math: This week we worked on multiplying 3-digit numbers by 1 as well as learned out to use Seesaw as a tool for number talks. Reading: This week we continued to dive into our non-fiction books working on recognizing hybrid texts and creating word banks for new words. Writing: This week we started Essay writing by starting the week with an on-demand essay piece followed by learning how an essay is set up, how to generate ideas and then how to free-write as a jumping off piece. Science: This week we had fun experimenting with mass, volume and density as it pertains to matter. Important Dates
