This week in Room 203...
The most fabulous lemonade stand in history happened today! Your fabulous students planned, executed and had a blast putting on a lemonade stand to raise money for their chosen charity - The Red Cross! We raised over $240!!! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who donated time and also to all of the families who donated supplies. I am so proud! Reading This week we read various holiday books focusing in on different reading skills. We made inferences, used strategies for tricky words, used comparisons and worked on retell. Writing Students completed their expert texts and tri-fold posters this week. Today we celebrated the end of our non-fiction unit by having a writing expo where we walked around to other classes and left compliments for our peers' work. The pieces will go into students portfolios to go home at the end of the year. On Monday we will have our on-demand assessment for non-fiction writing. Math We have been working hard on the the chip model and the vertical method to solve both addition and subtraction. We have celebrated a lot of success this week as students are really enjoying solving equations with these two methods and catching on quickly! Science This week we planned and built our own ecosystems. On Monday, we will have Science to Go come in to teach a hands-on lesson on ecosystems as we wrap up our first science unit. Have a great weekend! Ms. Warner Dates to Know:
