Dear 4th grade families,
This is a friendly reminder that the conference scheduler is now open through Skyward-Family Access. This system will be closed tomorrow for maintenance, so please schedule today or after November 2nd. Elementary conferences will be held on Dec. 4th and 5th. Your fourth grader will attend the conference with you. They will present for the first half and leave the room for the second half of the conference. I am happy to accommodate two family households. If you do not see a time that works for you, please let me know and we can work something out. If you have trouble logging on to Skyward, let me know, and I can send you some available time slots. Thank you! Highlights of this week: Character Trait - Each month we will focus in on an important trait as a whole school. The trait for November is "gratitude." Math: This week we started multiplying 2-digit numbers using place value charts and area models. Reading: We started our non-fiction unit discussing previewing our texts and text structures. We practiced taking notes chronologically, showing cause and effect as well as problem/solution. Writing: This week we worked on a practice packet for the smarter balanced assessment where we evaluated multiple sources and then used the information to write our own folktale. Science: This week we started our unit on Matter. We explored the different states and properties of matter, researched Oobleck to determine if it was a liquid or a solid and explored the weight of solids and liquids. Other fun activities: Thank you to everyone who volunteered and sent items in for a very successful Fall party. We also celebrated tech day as a class reward, enjoyed a Willy Wonka writing celebration and a fun escape room on Halloween. Important Dates
