This week in Room 203...
Seesaw The latest in Seesaw shows your students playing golf in p.e., reading by flashlight and sharing small moment stories during camp writing share. Un-homework/Book Bags Un-homework is due every Monday. Students have 5 options to choose from including the attached worksheets and choices from the monthly calendar sent with the first packet of the month. Book bags should be returned every Tuesday to check out on Thursdays. Reading This week we did a whole class book study of Alexander and the Terrible, No Good, Horrible Bad Day. We talked about cause/effect, prediction, author intention and made a connection. We spent Friday reading by flashlight in our camping themed classroom. Writing We spent the week writing fast and furious to finish our small moment narrative pieces. We had such a wonderful camp share celebration today with each student reading their final version. I am so proud of their finished products - you have wonderful story tellers! Math We continued our work with place value and finding efficient as well as effective ways to add. We worked with adding money using 1s, 10s and 100s as well as placing numbers on number lines and counting the jumps to add. Students also learned a new strategy for answering story problems called read, draw, write. Social Studies We continue to work on our class citizenship project - a lemonade stand for charity. We are in the planning stages - details to come. Science We started our Organisms science unit by creating and setting up our science journals. PTA Please consider signing up for PTA if you have not done so - PTA is shooting for 100% membership and fund fabulous programs for our students. Thank you to all of you who donated and volunteered for our very fun and successful harvest party! Have a great weekend! Ms. Warner Dates to Know:
