Report Cards
Report cards will go live on Tuesday, 3.26.19. Our goal is for students to be working at a level 3 in all areas - that is grade level and exactly where they are supposed to be. To obtain a 4 students need to be consistently showing work at least a full grade level above where they are. If you have any questions or concerns about your student's report card, please let me know. Music Program Just a reminder the 2nd grade musical has been moved to Thursday, March 28th. Students will perform for the school at 3:00 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. for families. Students should wear any solid or plain colored shirt with jeans or pants to school and for the evening performance. Seesaw This week's pictures show our opinion writing picnic celebration. This week in Room 203... Math Students have shown mastery of using strategies solving addition and subtraction with 3 and 4 digit numbers. We will continue to review as needed to make sure we have a solid grasp but also add in some real world math tasks and higher level math problems for those students ready to move on. Reading This week we wrapped up discussing our series books. We focused on how best to share books we love with others. Students created posters, billboards, computer graphic signs and wrote recommendations. Please encourage your students to read chapter books at their level and ask questions about their reading. Writing This week we focused on revising and publishing our opinion pieces in preparation for our fabulous picnic celebration where we shared our writing with other 2nd graders. We took the district assessment for opinion writing. Students worked hard to write a convincing piece within 60 minutes. They showed grit and determination. Social Studies This week we researched potential careers we might want to have and wrote letters to people in the community in those careers who might want to come talk to our class about their jobs. If you are interested in talking to our class about your career and the path to get there, please let me know. We would love to have you in! Last year, my class had visits from the FBI, the police, an attorney, a game designer, etc. I am hoping to have some of those same people come this year as the students loved it! Reminders: -Next week's sharing is free choice (please no stuffed animals or toys). -Please return purple folders daily -Library books are due each Friday. Book bags are due Tuesdays. -Please send 2 small snacks in each day with your student. Have a great weekend! Ms. Warner Dates to Know:
