This week in Room 203...
Teacher Appreciation Week Thank you for your overwhelming kindness this week with flowers, books for our classroom, lovely cards, treats and gifts! I absolutely adore this class and appreciate all of your generosity! Math This week we continued to work with money in two-step story problems. We also started working with measurement using rulers. Reading This week we focused in on the genre of mystery. We discussed the ingredients of a mystery and students studied their books looking for clues and red herrings. We will have a mystery in the classroom to solve next week! Social Studies This week we continued to study the history of Issaquah and enjoyed a gallery walk through items of the past from a history trunk provided by the district as part of our curriculum. Students were pretty enthralled to see what curling irons and other items from the past looked like. Please make sure to turn in your family interview if you have not done so - this will be the last piece of our unit. We were also fortunate to have two visits from people in the community. Dr. Norquist, a local veterinarian came in response to Charlotte's letter. She told the class about her training and work experience as well as answered a lot of questions. Several of our students wrote to the Renton Police Department and we had two officers come talk to the class as well as let us all explore their patrol cars - such a fun experience! Writing/Science Students were excited to conduct experiments this week and write like scientists in their lab notebooks. They asked questions, came up with a hypothesis, created a procedure, collected data and wrote a conclusion! Reminders: -Next week's sharing: Circle Story -Please return purple folders daily -Library books are due each Friday. Book bags are due Tuesdays. -Please send 2 small snacks in each day with your student. Have a great weekend! Ms. Warner Dates to Know:
