This week in Room 203...
I hope you all had a wonderful break! I missed your students and was glad to be back in the classroom with them starting on Wednesday. Hopefully you saw the class posted on the school district Facebook page - I am so proud of the students for their hard work and compassion. Reading This week we started a new reading unit - Bigger Books Mean Amping up Reading Power. Our first three lessons taught us how to read more fluently. We also reviewed choosing "Just Right" books and how important it is to be able to read the words in our books as well as to retell what is happening. Writing We also started a new unit in writing - Poetry. Ask you student about to describe a simple object to you through a poet's eyes. Our ceiling became "the sky of our classroom" and scissors "closed tight like a shark's mouth on a school of fish!" Math We continue to work on developing successful strategies in addition and subtraction as move into 3 and 4 digit numbers. Social Studies/Sharing We started a new unit in social studies - StoryPath. Students will be building a community and running businesses in the community. They are very excited! Sharing due next week is the Dream Mobile - construction paper sent home yesterday. Have a great weekend! Ms. Warner Dates to Know:
