This week in Room 203...
Math This week found us discussing line plots, using rulers as a number line and taking the Module (Unit) 7 test. We moved onto our last unit, which involves geometry and time. I promised the students we would have time at the end of the year to revisit multiplication and throw in some fractions. Reading This week we focused in on the genres of biography and realistic fiction. Students picked one person to study and created a power-point presentation to share their new learning. They created a comic strip to outline the timeline of their historical fictional novels. As much as I love Dog Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it has been nice to have the students branching out to other books as we complete these genre studies. Writing/Science We continued to conduct experiments this week and write like scientists in our lab notebooks. Students asked questions, came up with a hypothesis, created a procedure, collected data and wrote a conclusion. We were fortunate to have a second force and motion lab where we tested gravity, friction and amounts of force using different toys. We are starting to write informational how to books involving force and motion using what we know about writing like a scientist. Reminders: -Next week's sharing: Summer Acrostic poem -Please return purple folders daily -Library books are due each Friday. Book bags are due Tuesdays. -Please send 2 small snacks in each day with your student. Have a great weekend! Ms. Warner Dates to Know:
